A program to mentor high school science teachers

Welcome to the OU Quarknet Website!!

QuarkNet is a new educational program funded by the National Science Foundation. The aim of this program is to help improve science education in high schools by establishing a nation-wide science teacher network. It will provide opportunities for high school science teachers to participate in frontline physics research in particle physics, and thereby establishing mentor relationships between science teachers and physics professors at universities.

QuarkNet will establish 12 centers each year, OU being among the first group of 12 , over the next five years in universities and laboratories participating in hadron collider experiments at CERN in Switzerland and Fermilab in the US.
Initially, each center will include two mentor physicists and two high school science teachers.
