Clinical and Research opportunities of Medical Physics at OUHSC

A medical physicist is a professional who specializes in the application of the concepts and methods of physics to the diagnosis and treatment of human disease. The discipline consists of the field of therapeutic radiologic physics, diagnostic imaging physics, medical nuclear physics and medical health physics. The mission of the OUHSC Department of Radiation Oncology is to provide cutting-edge oncologic care within a milieu of commitment to teaching and research. Examples of physics and clinical research currently undertaken in this department are for example: Treatment Plan Evaluation with Optimization Based on Radiobiologic Parameters and the compact approach to Proton Radiation Therapy. The requirements of the graduate medical physics and the therapeutic medical physics residency programs in OUHSC are discussed.
