DUNE: the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will be a world-class neutrino observatory and nucleon decay detector designed to answer fundamental questions about elementary particles and their role in the universe.  I will describe DUNE’s capabilities in measuring matter-antimatter asymmetries in neutrinos and  in establishing the neutrino mass spectrum; and I will summarize progress in the construction of DUNE’s four ship-sized detector modules 1500 meters underground in a retired gold mine in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
