Prof. Bruno Uchoa was recommended for an NSF Career Award based upon his proposal "Interactions and quantum effects in nodal materials."  This program gives awards that fund research for five years, and the success rate for applicants is low, typically under 15%.

The goal of his  proposal is to enhance our fundamental understanding about the physics of correlated quantum systems in nodal fermi surfaces, and to propose new ways to observe emergent quantum phenomena in those systems. This work is motivated by the discovery of an entire new “zoo” of systems showing remarkable quantum properties in low dimensions, including graphene, two dimensional crystals, and a variety of materials with topological properties.
