Answer the Reading Questions below. Please answer each question.

1. What electric property is always the same for an ideal voltage source?

2. If circuit elements are connected in parallel, what electric property is the same for the elements?

3. What is the SI unit of capacitance?

4. In general, how can you change the capacitance of a capacitor?

5. Two capacitors are connected in series. What is the same for both capacitors?

6. The electric potential energy stored in a capacitor is given by U=(1/2)CV2. It is also given by U=(1/2C)Q2. Is the energy really proportional to C or 1/C, or is neither really true?

7. Name at least three things a capacitor "stores".

8. Suppose you charge a capacitor, so that there is now potential energy stored in the electric field between the electrodes of the capacitor. Where did the energy come from that is now stored in the capacitor?

9. When a dielectric is used in the electrostatic equations we have used this sememster, one simple substitution allows us to use those equations exactly like we have used them to this point. What is that simple substitution?

10. How does an electric field affect the molecules in a dielectric?

Final Question: (This question must be answered to receive any credit). What is one thing from the chapter that you didn't understand or need clarified?
