Answer the Reading Questions below. Please answer each question.

1. What physical process causes a gas to have a pressure?

2. How does the average kinetic energy of a molecule of gas relate to its temperature?

3. What is the change in internal energy for an ideal gas that undergoes any process that starts and ends at the same pressure and temperature? The pressure and temperature may change throughout the process.

4. Does cV/n = dU/dT for a processes where the volume is not kept constant?

5. Define what is meant by a "degree of freedom."

6. Describe possible degrees of freedom for gases and solids, and relate these degrees of freedom to the energy of a molecule or atom using the Equipartition Theory.

7. What is an adiabatic process?

8. What is the numerical value of cP/cV for a monatomic ideal gas? What about for a diatomic ideal gas?

Final Question: (This question must be answered to receive any credit). What is one thing from the chapter that you didn't understand or need clarified?
