Answer the Reading Questions below. Please answer each question.

1. If you push against a wall and it doesn't move, do you do work on the wall? Explain your answer.

2. If you carry a package and walk at a constant velocity, do you do work on the package? Explain your answer.

3. Consider an object that is being pushed across the floor (with friction) at a constant velocity. Is the work done by the push the same as the net work done on the object? Explain.

4. Define conservative and nonconservative forces.

5. Can potential energy be defined for conservative forces? What about nonconse rvative forces?

6. What is the relationship between equation 8.13 and equation 8.15?

7. The speed of an object increases. What can you say about the net work done on the object?

8. In previous chapters, we have used acceleration, distance, and time, to solve for velocity. What concept in this chapter could be used to solve for velocity in a problem?

9. If an object has just enough velocity to escape the gravitational attraction of a planet, what will its velocity be when it is very far (an infinite distance) from the planet?

10. When solving problems involving conservation of energy using the "Context-Rich" method, the "Describe the Physics" diagram should consist of three parts. Describe those three parts?

Final Question: (This question must be answered to receive any credit). What is one thing from the reading that you didn't understand or need clarified?
