Research Opportunities at the Shafer-Ray Laboratory

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS:  Undergraduate students from both OU and other institutions are welcome to apply to OU Department of Physics and Astronomy's Research Experience For Undergraduates program.  This program will allow you to work in my laboratory over the summer.  It will also pay for your living expenses and a stipend.  The admissions is quite competitive, but the program is great fun.  If you wish to work in my laboratory, be sure to mention the Shafer-Ray laboratory in you application essay.

GRADUATE STUDENTS:  I almost always have room for excellent students to join our laboratory. I do require that you first be admitted into the graduate program in physics at OU.  Application materials can be found on the departmental web page.  I also require that you have already made good progress toward finishing both your classes and qualifier exams before beginning laboratory research.  Be sure to mention your interest in my laboratory in your application essay.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS:  Pending funding, we expect to create a two-year postdoctoral position in our Spectroscopy Beyond the Standard Model project.  The position is expected to begin in June of 2004.  Please contact me by email, phone, or snail mail if you would be interested in such a position.
