PARKER Family Group 13 P71 is descended from John PARKER, born about 1675 in Northumberland England, and died there in 1748. He married Martha DIXON, born 1698 in Cumberland England, and died in 1767 in Northumberland, England. His line emigrated to Ontario, Canada in the mid-1800's. P52 is descended from George PARKER, born in 1803 in Mavis Enderby, Lincolnshire, England, immigrated to the USA in 1853 and died in 1895 in Walworth, Wisconsin. He married Sarah FRESHNEY, born in 1801 in South Thoresby, Lincolnshire, England, and died in 1871 in Sugar Creek, Walworth, Wisconsin. The probable parents of this George PARKER were Thomas and Elizabeth Parker of whom little has been found. This has turned into a very interesting case. P52 originally had only the 12 marker test, and he matched P71 on 11 of 12 markers. The rarity of their DNA profile and the shared surname PARKER gave us confidence that they shared a common ancestor. P52 extended his DNA test to 37 markers, and their match dropped to 29 / 37, a "genetic distance" of 8. With a genetic difference this great, we would ordinarily conclude that these two men are unrelated within a genealogical time period. However, the extended DNA test revealed something unusual in this line. Both P52 and P71 have a value of 11 for the marker YCA IIa. This value is very rare. In the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy data base, they report finding this value in only 56 of over 13,000 samples, a frequency of 0.4 %. P52 and P71 have not been able to find any documentation linking their lines, but we have decided to keep them in a family group. This is based on the shared surname, and their very rare DNA markers. If they do share a common ancestor, a genetic distance of 8 probably means that ancestor lived very near the time when surnames were first adopted. P103 was added to this lineage on June 29, 2006. He matches P71 on 35 of 37 markers, with a genetic distance of 3. He shares the rare YCA IIa value of 11 with the others in this group. The oldest ancestor of P103 is Robert PARKER, born in 1810 in Tynehead, Alston Parish, Cumberland, England. He immigrated to Canada in 1855, died in 1873 in Glanford Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada. Robert married Hannah CLEMENTSON, born 1814 in Penrith, Cumberland, England, died 1892, Glanford Twp, Canada. This group is working on the hypothesis that Robert PARKER, b 1810, may be a great grandson of John PARKER b abt 1675.
