Page Name

My great grandfather Thomas Bryant Parker lived in the beautiful town of Palmyra for about 22 years. He dontated land to the Methodist Episcopal church for a place of worship. He was one of the duly elected board of Trustees for the this church.

We recently visted Palmyra. It is a clean, beautiful and friendly town. It is no wonder that grandfather called this home for more than 22 years. I want to publically thank the citizens of Palmyra for their help. I especially than Deb!

Deed book. Thomas Bryant Parker was a Trustee to the Espicopal Church and donated land for the church to be built.

This is a picture of the Episcopal Methodist Church (Picture taken August 2004).

The following copies were graciously supplied by Deb Behring. I really appreciate Deb's help. You can click on the image and you will se a higher resolution picture.

John I. Campbell, --- Plaintiff

against William Lair, Thomason E. Turner, the unknown heirs of James Holland, dec'd, Reed, decd and William R. Ross ---- Defendants

Now at this day comes the plaintiff by John D. S. Dryden, his attorney, and the said defendants, William R. Ross and the unknown heirs of the said James Holland deceased, and the unknown heirs of said Samuel C. It is however expressly understood and agree between the parties to this deed that the words grant, bargain , and sell shall never be construed to contain any convenant whatsoever on the the part of the said John I. Back of page 15. or the consideration of thirty dollars paid to him, bargained, sold and conveyed to the said named trustees and their successors in office in trust for the uses of said church lots number seven and eight in block number thirty nine in the said town of Palmyra, in manner as stated in plaintiffs petition, that said church afterwards erected on said lots a house of worship, but which remained unfinished and in the erection of which the said became involved in a debt which made necessary or convenient to sell said lots and house that afterwards and before the 10th day of February 1837 the said church in accordance with the constitution and laws of said church elected as successors to the said first named trustees, a new board of trustees consiting of John Lydick, John Randall, John R. Coptin, Thomas B. Parker, Thomas J. Wise, Stephen W. B. Carneggy and Abram B. Huntsberry, as charged in the plaintiffs petition, that the said last named trustees in order to raise funds to meet the said debt,in which said church became so involved and enable said church to erect another house of worhip on another site, better suited to the wants and tastes of said church, by bargained and sold the said lots and premisess to the said Abraham Bird and George W. Bird as charged in the petition that said George W. Bird, Abraham Bird and their wives, afterwards for their deed for twenty two hundred dollars, paid to them, granted, bargained and sold the said lots premises to the said William R. Campbell and one John H. Milton regularly sold and conveyed all the estate of said William R. in said lots and premises to the plaintiff the court both also find the the plaintiff and those under who he claims have had the uninterrupted continuous possession of said lots and premises ever since the said conveyance to tsaid Bird and Bird, but that doubts have never the less existed as to the title of the plaintiffs, because

Page 16. that the said first board of trustees instead of the second did not convey said lots and premises, and thus a clod has been cast upon plaintiffs title, the court doth also find that the title to said lots was vested in said first board of trustees, in trust and for uses of the said church and in equity subject to the control of said church and that siad church did in fact desire and did order and direct the sale and conveyance of said lots free and discharged of the trust. It is therefore orderd, adjudged and decreed by the Court that the defendents in this suit and the unknown heirs of the said Holland and Reed, because they are hereby divested of all title, legal and equitable in the siad lots and premises and it is ordered that the plaintiff pay the costs of this suit.
