After Thomas Bryant Parker died 1850 she married Melvin Ross 14 March 1856. Martha Ann Nelson is the second wife of Thomas Bryant Parker (born 1 October 1797). Thomas' first wafe was Catherine Hammett was born 19 January 1806 and died 6 September 1832.

Martha Ann Nelson Letter written June 22, 1851.

A letter written by Martha Ann Nelson Parker June 22, 1851. Her husband Thomas Bryant Parker died July 27, 1850 in Kanesville, Pottowatomie County, Iowa. In this very important letter she mentions several individuals that are not completely identified by the letter.  This letter identifies each of her eight children with birth dates. She also states she was married to Thomas Bryant Parker on October 25, 1835.

Sometimes the originals may be hard to read and for that purpose I give my hypertext version of the letter.  I have specifically noted each individual and have suggested identifications for some. However, since I am more than capable of making mistakes and invalid interpretations the originals are essential!  In the hypertext version I have tried to be as true as possible to the original including misspellings and obvious errors.  If an error is important for genealogy or historical purposes a footnote should be included!

Obviously Martha Ann Nelson Parker was very intelligent to be able to write and express herself quite well in only 13 lessons. She valued her education as well as her children's education. Notice the impression handwriting in the original.
