Next: Prologue

This document is the story of Arnold Feldt's tour of duty in World War II. He wrote part of it shortly after his return to the United States and then added a prologue, the basic training section and the final four sections in the spring of 2000, 55 years after some of these events took place. (The table of contents is at the bottom of this page when it appears on the web.) All footnotes are comments by Andy Feldt.

He prepared a short history of his military record in December of 1997. This is reproduced here:

Military History Narrative: I took my Basic Training at Camp Fannin, TX from Jun 43 through Oct 43. From there I was transferred to Texas A&M University at College Station, TX for 5 months of AIT in Basic Engineering. From there I was assigned to the 12th Armored Division (or see this 12th Armored Division information) at Camp Barkeley, TX as a Military Policeman in preparation to be sent to the European Theater. I took part in the Rhineland and Central European Campaigns in England, France, Luxembourg and Germany. I was assigned to the Traffic Section of a Military Police Platoon for 24 months. Then I was transferred to the U.S. for discharge at Camp McCoy, WI on 23 April 46.

Decorations: European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal.
