HOW IT WORKS

All jobs that take more than thirty minutes of shop time must have a Job Request Form attached BEFORE the work is entered into the queue.

LONG JOBS: (more than one day)

PHYSICS DEPT. Please use YELLOW forms.
ALL OTHERS Please use PINK forms.

The column of names on the left side of the Service Agenda is a queue. The top name represents the first in line. The jobs are prioritized according to guidelines posted on the wall just to the right of the office door in the shop, or on our web site.

SHORT JOBS: (less than one day)

ALL SHORT JOBS PLEASE USE GREEN FORMS.
Any job that takes one day or less (see shop rep.), must have a green flag attached to the name tag.

GREEN FLAGS:

The green flag represents a short job. Short jobs will be done on Thursdays of every week. Please do not come in to consult with us on Thursday unless absolutely necessary. Green flag jobs will be handled strictly in chronological order. If your job sheet lacks sufficient information to complete the job, you get bumped to the following week. WE WILL NOT LOOK FOR YOU! If the job is particularly urgent, you may want to come in early Thursday morning to check that all information is provided, and correct.

RED FLAGS:

If you have a RED FLAG on your name, this means that there is a problem with your job, i.e. wrong dimensions, parts or materials required, the shop requires tooling or maintenance to complete the project, or possibly general confusion relative to your project. There will be a note providing specific information in your job folder. There will also be a notice in your mail box.

RED FLAG WITH WHITE DOT:

This means there is a slight delay; parts or materials are ordered but have not arrived.

MULTIPLE JOBS:

If you have multiple jobs in the queue you must designate the priority status on each individual job. Otherwise we will default to the earliest date.
EACH JOB MUST HAVE A NAME TAG ASSOCIATED WITH IT. Name tags are in your job folder. If you need more tags we will make some for you.

COLOR CODE GREEN FLAGS:

You may wish to color code your multiple short jobs using the colored paper clips and associated green flags. You will still need to assign priorities to each job.
