OU students are eligible to apply to the NSF-REU program on the same basis as other students. The University of Oklahoma has provided additional funding specifically for OU students to participate in the ten week program. All Physics, Engineering Physics, or Astronomy majors are encouraged to apply.
For their Senior Capstone project, Physics, Engineering Physics and Astronomy majors will be working with a faculty member in an area related to his or her research. In addition, faculty doing research in the department often have funds to support undergraduates both in the summer and during the academic year. It is never too early for Physics or Astronomy majors to start talking to faculty and finding out about their research. For more information, stop by the office and talk to one of our secretaries. (All physics or astronomy majors should get to know them -- they can help straighten out your paperwork, tell you who's who in the faculty, and generally fill you in on all the inside scoop.)
Physics and Astronomy majors, or anyone interested in physics and astronomy, should contact the local SPS (Society of Physics Students) to find out about local activities. For more information, contact Matt Johnson, local faculty sponsor.
