Research Experience for Teachers (RET)

The RET program at the University of Oklahoma’s Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy  is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded program that pays high school teachers to spend nine weeks doing research in nanotechnology and attend seminars on modern physics.  Teachers use state-of-the-art labs to do real research as well as collaborate with experts in the field to develop teaching modules and demonstration kits.

Below are links to the teaching modules developed by the teachers in this program.  These modules were designed for and tested in middle school and high school science classes. There is no charge to use these materials, but all copyrights listed should be honored.

All downloadable modules/units were created or compiled by teachers whose stipends were funded by grants from the National Science Foundation.

The RET program has also participated in outreach programs.  Our modules went on their first road show in June, 2006 - at a summer camp for under-represented high school students at Metro Tech in Oklahoma City.  They went on the road again in June, 2007 -at a summer camp for under-represented middle school students at Tecumseh High School in Tecumseh, OK.

If you use any of these modules and have suggestions or feedback please send us an email at ouretfeedback@nhn.ou.edu.
