Press Release: Giant Rydberg Molecules the size of a red blood cell discovered by Shaffer's Group. See the Science Daily article at Science Daily and the Nanotechnology article at Azonano. The Giant Rydberg Molecule research is also reported in the June issue of Nature Physics and in the July issue of the Scientific Journal.

Jim Shaffer and four graduate students (K.R. Overstreet, A. Schwettman, J. Tallant and D. Booth) performed the research. Jim Shaffer joined the Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy, August 2001 as an Assistant Professor. In August of 2007 Jim was promoted to Associate Professor. He is currently on Sabbatical leave and is a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Society at the University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany. We are looking forward to Jim's return to the University of Oklahoma in August of this year.
