The Physics and Astronomy General Fund

Your donations to our General Fund account are used to support critical departmental activities such as physics and astronomy conferences held on the OU campus, high profile colloquium speakers, programs for women and minorities, outreach, alumni reunions, faculty and student research, postdoctoral fellows, graduate research assistants and newsletter publication. Other Funds

There are three other endowment funds to which donors may give: The Research Endowment Fund, The Student Endowment Fund, and The Endowed Chair Fund. For a full description and instructions on how to give in this fashion, please contact our chair, Dr. Greg Parker, directly at 405-325-3961.

The principal in all Endowment Funds generates interest and the department uses the interest to support the research and educational activities as specified above. If expendable interest accumulates in a fund the department chair will move the excess expendable to the principal. The OU Foundation has professional investors and audits the funds regularly.
