Alumni Photos
This will hopefully grow as other former alumni send us photos. The
initial ones from the 1980s here were contributed by Tom Miller (faculty member
from 1978-1994). When a larger version of the photo exists, it is
available by clicking on the photo here. Note that the captions are
only as accurate as the information given to us. If you send a photo,
please include the date, or at least the year, in which it was taken.

Prof. Chun C. Lin arrived at OU from Harvard in 1955.
Later, a student
taught him how to drive, then Lin bought a 1957 Oldsmobile and took his
driving test with the Olds. The car was quite luxurious for the time: power
windows, seats, and brakes, with air conditioning. Lin left for the
University of Wisconsin in 1968. He still had the car as of last year, with
only 43,000 miles on it after 51 years. He gave it to a former student, Don
Johnson (OU PhD 1967), who has rebuilt the engine and restored the car to
showroom condition. The car is pictured here with Don and Karen Johnson at
their home in Florida. They also have a 1930 Ford hotrod and a 1957
Corvette. (2009) |
| Tom Miller arrived at OU from California
in 1978 in this 1956 Triumph TR3.
Though no longer his only car, he still drives it, with 116,573 miles on
the odometer after 53 years. The TR3 was purchased new by the theorist
Felix T. Smith, and secured its fame in transporting Sir Harrie Massey
from Norman to the OKC airport in November 1978 after a stint as Karcher
Lecturer at OU.(2009) |
